Sports massage in Leeds - Transverse Frictions
Transverse frictions, also known as cross-fibre friction massage, is a specialised technique used to treat soft tissue injuries, such as tendonitis. This method involves applying pressure across the fibres of the affected tissue to break down scar tissue, reduce pain, and promote healing.
In my practice, I use transverse frictions to target specific areas of injury or chronic inflammation. The technique stimulates blood flow, which enhances the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the tissue, speeding up the healing process. It’s particularly effective for addressing conditions such as tennis and golfers elbow, Achilles tendinitis, and rotator cuff injuries.
While transverse frictions can sometimes feel intense, many clients find the results to be well worth it. The technique helps restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve the overall function of the affected area. By incorporating this method into your sports massage treatment, I can help you recover faster and prevent further complications.
If you’re recovering from a soft tissue injury, a sports massage at my studio can include transverse frictions to support your healing journey and get you back to peak performance.
Stay tuned for the next technique in the series: The Benefits of Muscle Energy Techniques (MET).
