Soft tissue release (STR) is an invaluable technique in sports massage that focuses on relieving tension, improving mobility, and reducing pain in specific areas of the body. By using a combination of manual pressure and stretching movements, this technique helps release tightness in muscles and connective tissues, making it an effective tool for addressing both chronic and acute issues.

In my practice, I often use STR to target areas of muscle dysfunction, such as knots or adhesions, that may be causing discomfort or limiting performance. The technique involves applying direct pressure to the affected area while guiding the muscle through a range of motion. This dual action not only helps to break down adhesions but also encourages the muscle to relax and lengthen.

Many clients find STR beneficial for conditions such as muscle strains, tendinitis, and general tightness caused by overuse or poor posture. The results often include improved flexibility, reduced pain, and enhanced overall function. STR is particularly effective for athletes, as it can aid in recovery and prevent future injuries by addressing imbalances and restrictions.
